A local activist hopes to become the next governor of New York State.
Michael Carey announced his candidacy on Friday, although he said he still needs to collect enough signatures to get on the ballot. The deadline is Tuesday.
Carey plans to run on the newly formed Life and Justice party line focusing on late term abortion, abortion expansion and abuse of disabled New Yorkers.
“Eleven or more deaths a day in New York State being reported to a state abuse hotline that is not forwarding them to 911. So we have a massive cover up of abuse of our disabled still,” said Carey.
Governor Andrew Cuomo is also facing a challenge from Democratic opponent, Zephyr Teachout and Republican Rob Astorino.
The Democratic primary in New York State will be held September 9.
